Discover personal clarity. Strengthen relationships.
“I help individuals and families discover their unique combination of styles, strengths, missions, and life stories. This shared experience helps strengthen their relationships ”
Will Hughes, MCC Discovery Experience Guide & Mentor
I am deeply committed to helping individuals understand themselves better, and to helping their family engage in impactful conversations. If conflict is a concern, I am confident helping people approach differences from the perspective of curiosity.
I am skilled at Guiding and Mentoring our ability diverse clients so they feel celebrated, validated, and are better equipped.
After completing my own Discovery Experience, I identified my model role/ personal metaphor as surveyor, one who examines in a graceful, comprehensive way.
Seperate from my role with Family Tapestry LLC, I specialize in providing mental health services to adolescent and young-adult clients experiencing the symptoms of ADHD, ASD, Anxiety, Depression, SUD, and combined diagnosis. My approach often utilizes outdoor natural experiences like mushroom foraging, fishing, hiking, and bird call identification to enhance my symptoms management skills-training sessions.
My expertise is supported by my Master’s in Clinical Counseling and over a decade of serving as a Discovery Experience Guide, Mentor, and Mental Health Counselor.
“Will provided a much needed, different perspective when he shared his insights on how I view myself compared to how others may be experiencing me. At first I was resistant to his approach, but now I understand and see the benefit.”

Bringing Brothers Together
Although Will Hughes has worked with many individuals and families, there is one experience that stands out for him. Several years ago, he traveled halfway around the world to help a family of five brothers reconnect and move forward in a positive way.
Like many siblings, these brothers had distinctly different personalities, interests, and viewpoints. At the time, two brothers were continuing to run the family business, one had pursued a career in marketing, another went into finance, and the fifth was living and working in a remote area of the country. With diverse backgrounds – from sheep farming to Harvard MBAs – these brothers were in distinctly different places. Over the years, they had drifted further and further apart, rarely communicating. This “disconnect” may have continued indefinitely – until a threat to the family business suddenly brought them together.
“Although there was no underlying conflict, these men lived very separate lives,” recalls Will Hughes. They didn’t know how to come together after so much time apart. My job was to facilitate productive conversations and reconnect them through the Family Tapestry Discovery Experience.”
Once the threat to the business was thwarted, the brothers found themselves with significant wealth to manage, but decidedly different ideas on what to do with those funds.
In the beginning, the conversations focused exclusively on Financial Capital, so it became Hughes’ challenge to move the emphasis to the Qualitative Capitals and how they could exploit those. In fact, the success of the program hinges on the ability to help families see that their resources encompass much more than
money.
Although it took time and persistence, eventually they discovered the value each member brings to the family and settled on some solid common ground.
Support for Our Diversely Abled Clients
To complete their Discovery Experience, clients need to be able to understand the prompts in the discussion and assessment segments, reflect independently, and engage in the process. However, we know that reading, writing, processing, or sustaining focus can be challenging for some individuals.
That’s why we offer the option of a Process Advocate; a professional support partner who helps remove barriers without influencing results. A Process Advocate may:
- Read assessment materials aloud.
- Clarify wording or concepts.
- Assist with speech-to-text note taking.
- Help manage pacing and attention.
- Provide accessible, judgment free support.
These small adjustments allow the client’s true strengths, preferences, and motivations to emerge clearly and authentically. When journeying through our Discovery Experience, a diversely abled person often benefits from two distinct complementary forms of support because understanding oneself and navigating systems require different kinds of expertise and presence.
- The Discovery Experience Guide helps the individual make sense of who they are. This role focuses on insight—clarifying strengths, needs, communication styles, motivations, and values. The Guide creates language, confidence, and shared understanding so the person (and those who support them) can see the whole human, not just a diagnosis or challenge.
- The Process Advocate helps the individual move through their Discovery Experience more effectively. This role focuses on action, navigating systems, coordinating steps, reducing friction, and ensuring the person’s voice and priorities are honored in real-world decisions and processes.
Together, these roles, Guide and Process Advocate, ensure you are both deeply understood and practically supported. One without the other can lead to insight without follow-through—or action without true alignment. Having both creates continuity, dignity, and momentum. insights guide you toward roles and environments that align with your natural wiring.
