Why is use of Metaphor so important to the Discovery Experience ?

Metaphorical language helps convey emotion and impressions, and it activates imagination. Metaphors can also help make a topic or situation more relatable.

Download and read our article In Search of Your Personal Metaphors provide below.

Can I go through the Discovery Experience™ myself even if my family is not ready to participate?

Absolutely! The increased self-awareness gained from your individual Discovery Experience™ supports increased effectiveness in your relationships, in the workplace, and in your leadership roles.

Your increased well-being will enable you to be a more effective advocate for the process with your family when they become interested.

Why is the Discovery Experience™ a process with several steps?

The Discovery Experience is designed to help increased self-awareness. It is a transformative process that requires reflection, observation and action. We begin with a Reflection Survey prompting you to capture notes on your life experiences, thoughts and feelings. Next the PRO-D and Learning Type assessments provide data you will discuss with your Guide who will provide feedback and share observations and insights. Your comprehensive conversation with your Guide includes a discussion of the convergence of your values, strengths and style. In addition, your Guide provides direction as you develop your Action Plan for applying what you learned about yourself to family, work and other relationships.

Our Discovery Experience™ is a longer progressive process because it is designed to provide a deeper understanding of yourself and prompt you to take steps for increased self-actualization.

You may have taken on-line self assessments like DISC, Myers-Briggs, and Enneagram. Your guided Discovery Experience will build on what you learned about yourself through these self-assessment tools. Increased impact comes from going through our more in-depth Discovery Experience which includes the PRO-D assessment and its convergence of your mission (values), competencies (strengths), and styles.

Will you collaborate with my other advisors?

We value collaboration. Our story, On the Way to Canterbury, shares how the Discovery Experience ™ was developed through the power of collaboration. Just let us know who to call and your expectations and guidelines for working with your other advisors. You can find On the Way to Canterbury on our About page.

Who will facilitate our family conversation?

Your family’s primary advisor, especially if they referred you to us, usually facilitates your family conversation, our one time set up fee includes preparing your advisor to lead the discussion.

If you do not have an advisor who can facilitate, then you can expand your engagement with Family Tapestry and we will provide facilitation services. Our facilitation fee is determined by the time required and reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses.
