      According to Mary Benson Maxwell's book, "The Genealogy of the Benson-Lati mer-Reed-Durham Families", the inscription on Matilda Durham Hoy's tombsto ne reads:
      "A woman of remarkable intelligence and talents--a most colorful personali ty. She wrote interesting articles for the religious papers of teh day, b eing noted for the witty repartee that characterized her work. She was ou tstanding as a music teacher and composer of music, some of her songs bei ng "On Jordan's Stormy Banks", "Heavenly Treasure" and "Star of Columbia".
